What do we mean by Mindmovement?
Mindmovememt is movement using our mind as our main driving force and motivational tool.
Did you know that 80% of our thoughts are negative?
Not just you - EVERYBODY.
It’s normal. It’s natural. It’s a sign of having a healthy working brain. There’s nothing wrong with you because you’re having negative thoughts. You aren’t weak. You aren’t inferior. You aren’t a pathetic meaningless waste of space that many of you tell yourself.
No, you’re human.
But, because we have these thoughts we start to beat ourselves up. We tell ourselves we’re weak. We tell ourselves we’re useless. We tell ourselves we’re fat, ugly and not worthy of happiness.
For the love of god please stop beating yourself up - you wouldn’t speak to your best friend, parent or children the way you speak to yourself.
You’d get arrested in the street for speaking to a stranger the way you speak to yourself
Accept that most of our thoughts are negative.
However, realise that although we can’t control the negative thoughts incoming, we can control our reaction to them, and change the behaviour related to them.
So, use this new found acceptance and understanding to see things with a different perspective.
Use this new perspective to understand that you’re totally fine.
And use the energy you’ve saved on worrying and self-hatred to be kind to yourself instead. and get yourself moving to feel even better again ,use your mind in a positive way when exercising or running ,use it as a motivational tool , how?
- When moving think happy thoughts, think back to when you were a child ,family holidays, fun times.
- Think about accomplishments you have achieved in your life.
- Think about birthdays, anniversaries.
- Think about events you attended that you really enjoyed, concerts .movies etc.
By flooding your mind with happiness/positivity like this you are distracting it from negativity ,you are not giving it a chance to focus on the troubles of the day and for that time you spend on exercising you are working both body and mind at the same time.
And yes it takes time and practice to develop this routine but believe you me it will make that part of your day so. much more enjoyable, so go on give it a try on your next run, walk, hike or whatever form of exercise takes your fancy ,you won't look back.
